Shooter Classifications
- Traditional
- Any centre fire single action pistol with non-adjustable
sights.
- Any pistol calibre tube fed rifle with exposed hammer
- Any double barrel shotgun with or without external hammers
and without automatic ejectors
- Any pump action shotgun with exposed hammer such as
Winchester '97.
- Classic Cowboy
- With the growing interest in this category, a level
playing field is required amongst all clubs. The AFS will require Classic
Cowboy/Cowgirl to be shot according to SASS rules. For those who are not SASS
members or do not have access to the requirements,

- Modern
- Pistols have adjustable sights (Ruger Blackhawk)
- Rifles and shotguns are the same as traditional class
- Black Powder
- Traditional style firearms (Rifle , Pistol & Shotgun)
- Black powder MUST be used in all firearms
- Cap & Ball revolvers may be used in this class
- Pistols with adjustable sights are NOT allowed in this
class
- Duelist
- Any competitor using a traditional style revolver but
shooting it with only one hand
- Gunfighter
- Any competitor using traditional style revolvers but
shooting with one gun in each hand.
- If you wish to shoot in the Gunfighter class you MUST
pass a proficiency test prior to the start of the match.

- Junior
- Any competitor between the ages of 14 - 16 shooting in any
of the above classes.
- Ladies
- Any girl, woman,or female shooting in any of the above
classes.
- Senior
- Any competitor who is 60 years of age or over shooting in
any of the above classes.
- 49er
- Any competitor between the ages of 49 - 60 shooting in any
of the above classes.
Note: Only juniors may shoot as Juniors. Only females may shoot as Ladies.
Only seniors may shoot as Seniors. There are no men's categories. No competitor
is compelled to shoot in one of these categories by reason of his or her age or
gender. A competitor may compete in any category for which they qualify based on
the firearms they are using.
